THE IDEA.

A block of ice. A handful of treasures. A rescue mission with no wrong answers. Leave a little space for the unexpected. The best part might be the bit you never planned.

YOU’LL NEED.

  • A freezer-safe container
  • Water and a few large, child-safe treasures
  • Warm water, a spoon and a dropper
  • A tray to catch the melt

LET THEM…

  1. Freeze the treasures in water the night before.
  2. Set the ice on a tray with warm water and tools.
  3. Let them choose how to free each treasure. Ask: what might happen next?

WHY KIDS LOVE IT.

There is a real mystery to solve, a satisfying change to notice and no one right way to do it. Stay nearby; small pieces need supervision.

Choose age-appropriate materials, supervise play and keep small parts away from children under three.
